BOOMERANG's "For the toward" was chosen out of more than 150 works as the top 5 in the time-based category at ArtPrize in Michigan!
"I mean, I saw a lot of performance, but this work stood out in its intensity. It’s very focused, as well. It’s about negotiating the unbearable baggage of an intimate relationship. It’s abstract but very legible, really accessible, and palpable--the energy between the two performers. And the materials—nails and big discs of steel—you really felt the energy from one moment to the next. It was relentless, and very magnetic."
- Shari Frilot, Los Angeles-based Senior Programmer of Sundance Film Festival and Curator of New Frontier at Sundance, Juror of Time-Based work at Art Prize

BOOMERANG had a great time in Berlin in June via an artist residency at Lake Studios embarking on new work that is commissioned by, and will premiere at, Dixon Place in March 2016. The work will be performed by Matty Davis and Adrian Galvin along with collaborating composer/percussionist Greg Saunier who is in the band Deerhoof. We will show work-in-progress excerpts of this new piece at Roulette in Brooklyn October 26th and at DanceSpace in Manhattan November 21st. We also are pleased to announce that we received a residency at the Watermill Center to work on this new production in January 2016. Aside from the new work, BOOMERANG performed their work in Berlin and Barcelona during 2015 summer and Kora Radella taught a week workshop in Barcelona at tragantDansa. We are excited to be back in the states and performing our work this month in NYC, August 19th at 6:30 PM at the Battery Dance Festival and August 22nd at 4:00 PM at the Socrates Sculpture Park. We are also psyched about bringing our work to ArtPrize in Grand Rapids, Michigan this September and October.
Also, as an update to the film work, both films are nearing the later stages of post-production! We plan to continue with blending our work with film in the future! It's an exciting time for BOOMERANG! Thank you for all of your interest.
We are in the process of bring our work to film! The solo, How you shone through me, is in post-production via NYC based filmmaker Sam Krebbs. Our eponymous duet, Boomerang, is in post-production via the team of NYC based filmmakers Noah Fowler, Martha Gregory, and Kenny Polyak. Keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming Kickstarter campaign to fund these films with more to come! Both film shoots have been awesome! Check out https://www.facebook.com/boomerangdancekma for some of the film shoot images!!! This is a really exciting development in our work and we are so pleased with how the process is going!
BOOMERANG had a super productive week with Matty Davis and Will Arbery in Chicago last week. We had good rehearsals at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Visceral Dance Center, and a cool video shoot for the upcoming THAW 2015 performance (coming up March 19th at Block 37via Links Hall). We received great feedback on our newly expanded duet "For the toward" via Nora Sharp and Research Project #7 at Outerspace March 7th where we showed a solo excerpt and our showing March 8th of the full evening-length duet at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Thanks to all the folks that came out!!! We also had another wonderful time Latin School of Chicago with Adriana Durant on March 9th. Hard work and worth it. We are looking forward to performing at THAW 2015 on March 19th and at the RADFest in Kalamazoo on March 21st. We have some upcoming performances and another film shoot in NYC in April so we'll be headed back to the East coast soon!

We are also really excited about our upcoming work with filmmaker Sam Krebs. Filming of our solo How you shone through me will take place on February 23rd!
It was such a wonderful experience to have a full house at Dixon Place and a standing ovation! Even though our Friday eve show was in the midst of APAP, American Realness, COIL, & more in NYC, we almost sold-out. It rocked to have live music for most of the work thanks to the band Poor Remy, pianist Adam Tendler, and cellist Emily Brausa. It was a strong evening of BOOMERANG work. We also enjoyed the comic relief and great dancing of Karl Rogers who performed one of his solos as an invited guest. Thank you so much to all who came out to the performance! It means so much to us to share the work and to hear your tremendous feedback!!!
